About David

In the Statehouse, David chairs the House Committee on Agriculture, Food Resiliency & Forestry.  In this position, he has successfully led the efforts in recent years to enact statewide universal school meals, phase out the use of neonicotinoids, create the Vermonters Feeding Vermonters grant program, and ban the use of paraquat--making Vermont the first state to do so.  David is a member of the Climate Solutions Caucus and the Vermont Rural Caucus, and previously served on the Ways & Means and Healthcare Committees.

Key Issues:

  • An economy that works for everyone, with access to affordable childcare and paid family leave for new parents.

  • Energy policies that confront and build resiliency to climate change and extreme weather events and make home heating more affordable.

  • Local control of schools and education funding, with accurate pupil-weighting to ensure fairness across the state, inflation-adjusted income credits, and less reliance on property taxes.
